Help & FAQ
How can we help?
Answers to the most common questions about MySpoons — medications, privacy, iCloud backup, and more.
Getting Started
No account is required. Open the app and start tracking immediately. Your data lives entirely on your device and your personal iCloud Drive.
MySpoons is free to download. Some advanced features — such as unlimited medication slots, PDF doctor reports, and advanced correlation charts — are available through an optional in-app purchase.
Spoon theory is a metaphor popularized in the chronic illness community. A spoon represents a unit of daily energy — people with chronic conditions often have a limited number of "spoons" each day and must choose how to spend them. MySpoons is designed with this community in mind.
MySpoons requires iOS 17.0 or later. Apple Watch app requires watchOS 10.0 or later.
Go to Settings → Profiles → Add Profile. Give each profile a name and color. You can switch between profiles from the home screen or the Settings menu at any time.
Medications & Reminders
Tap the + button on the Medications tab. Enter the medication name, dose, and unit. Choose a schedule and set a reminder time. You can also scan the barcode on your pill bottle to auto-fill the name.
Yes. When setting up or editing a medication, tap "Add Reminder" to add additional times. Each reminder fires independently and tracks its own dose log entry.
Missed doses are automatically flagged after the next reminder fires without a "taken" log. You can still mark a past dose after the fact by tapping the dose entry in the history log.
Adherence rate = (doses taken) / (doses scheduled) × 100, calculated over the last 30 days by default. Skipped doses count as intentional and do not lower your rate. Missed doses do.
When adding or editing a medication, enter your current pill count under "Supply Tracking." MySpoons decrements the count each time you log a dose and alerts you when you are running low.
Drug Interactions
MySpoons queries the NIH RxNorm API and the National Drug File Reference Terminology (NDF-RT) database. Lookups are anonymous — only drug names are sent, never your identity or personal data.
Interactions are labeled Minor, Moderate, or Major based on NIH data. Major interactions warrant a conversation with your pharmacist or doctor before continuing both medications. This is for informational purposes — always consult a healthcare professional.
MySpoons periodically checks the OpenFDA drug recall database for any active recalls that match medications in your list. If a match is found, you receive an in-app alert with recall details.
Data & Privacy
All data is stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData. Nothing is sent to our servers — we do not have servers that hold user health data. iCloud backups use your personal iCloud Drive, which only you can access.
No. Zima Logistics has no server that receives or stores your health information. Drug and recall lookups use anonymous API calls (drug names only). Weather lookups use Open-Meteo and send only coordinates, not your identity.
Yes. Go to Settings → Export Data. You can export as JSON (full fidelity), CSV (spreadsheet-friendly), or generate a PDF doctor report for a selected date range.
Your local data is deleted with the app. iCloud backups in your iCloud Drive remain until you delete them manually. We recommend exporting a JSON backup before deleting the app.
iCloud Backup
Go to Settings → iCloud Backup. Toggle "Automatic Backup" on. MySpoons uses iCloud Drive, so make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
MySpoons keeps a rolling 10 snapshots. When a new backup is created, the oldest is deleted automatically. Each backup is hash-gated — a new backup only writes when your data has actually changed.
Go to Settings → iCloud Backup → Restore. You will see a list of available snapshots with timestamps. Tap the one you want to restore and confirm.
Reports & Export
The PDF includes your medication list with adherence rates, symptom log summary, health event timeline, vitals readings, daily check-in averages, and any doctor notes — all within the date range you select.
Generate the report from Settings → Reports → Doctor Report. Tap Share to use the standard iOS share sheet — AirDrop, email, print, or save to Files.
JSON export contains your complete data with full fidelity — all fields, all records. CSV export is a flattened, spreadsheet-friendly version useful for Excel or Numbers. Use JSON for data portability and backups; use CSV for analysis.
Subscriptions & Restore
Open MySpoons on your new iPhone, signed into the same Apple ID. Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. Your premium access will be restored at no charge.
Go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → MySpoons → Cancel Subscription. Your premium features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Yes. Sign into the same Apple ID on each device and restore purchases. Local data does not automatically sync between devices — use iCloud backup to transfer data.
HealthKit Integration
MySpoons syncs heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose, weight, and blood oxygen saturation. Sync is bidirectional — data you log in MySpoons appears in Apple Health, and data recorded elsewhere in Apple Health appears in MySpoons.
Go to Settings → Apple Health. Toggle individual data types on or off. You can also manage permissions in the iPhone Health app under Sharing → Apps → MySpoons.
Yes. Apple Health data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud. Neither Apple nor Zima Logistics can read your Health data without your explicit authorization.
